Training Information

Full diver training is available from total beginner to Advanced Diver level. We welcome divers from any recognised training organisations. Conversion courses from other training organisations such as PADI or SAA can be run to suit individual needs although members can also continue to dive with their original qualifications if they wish. Refresher courses can also be organised to bring skills up to date.

All qualifications awarded are Internationally recognised and start at Ocean Diver progressing to Sport Diver, Dive Leader and Advanced Diver. Add to that the wide range of diving and courses available such as wreck appreciation, marine life identification, underwater photography, marine conservation, underwater archaeology, exploration, deep and technical diving - and the opportunities are endless.

Student training starts in the indoor swimming pool and progresses at a pace to suit the needs of the individual. SCUBA diving equipment is provided by the club for members undergoing initial training inclusive in the membership fee. Students are expected to purchase their own diving mask, snorkel and fins and information on costs, types and where to purchase is given.

"Have a go" sessions can be arranged by appointment for individuals or for small groups and costs £10 per session which is refundable if membership is taken up. To learn to dive or attend a "Have a go" session you need to be over 16 years of age (unless accompanied by an adult member) of reasonable fitness and be able to swim.
